With the sun shining lately, we couldn’t help ourselves from taking as many day-hikes as possible.
Sure, last week it was snowing. But, now its 50 degrees outside and sunny so don’t blame us for having spring fever.
When you think of the River Towns, obviously the vast Delaware River and it’s quaint towns come to mind. What many people tend to look past is the beauty that is often found right off of the beaten path. Some of the best hiking in the state takes place right here on the border of Bucks & Hunterdon County…(maybe a bit biased)…

The Wickecheoke Creek Preserve is truely a local hidden gem. Found sprawling through the woods of Central New Jersey, this creek comes complete with some of the most serene sights in the area.
Home to beaver, mink, herons, turtles and nearly 400 species of natural plant; adventuring the Wickecheoke Creek Preserve feels like a world of its own.
It’s hard to know where to begin when going over all the different trails. Since each brings unique views of their own, deciding where you’d like to hike is more or less based on how far you’re willing to go. An excellent place to start is the Green Sergeant’s Covered Bridge near Stockton, NJ. There, you will find places to park on the side of the road. Take a trip down Lower Creek Road and look for the trailheads. Before you know it, you’ll feel like you’re in the Adirondacks.
You can look at the trails here and plan out your next day-hike along the Wickecheoke Creek Preserve. In the summer, there’s no rather place we’d be.
