This Spring Lambertville will be hosting the 38th annual Shad Fest. While the Festival draws its name from the saltwater fish that returns to the Delaware every April to spawn, the festival offers way more than just the fish the weekend is named for. The two-day street fair occurring April 27 & 28 2019 offers music, arts, crafts, and food.
April 25 & 26, 2019

What is Shad?
Shad a saltwater ocean fish and is the largest member of the Herring Family. Also called the Poor Mans Salmon because of the freshwater spawning they hold in common. Although the Shad is edible it is not necessarily a fan favorite. But don’t worry- Shad Fest is about so much more.
Food
Shad Fest has an amazing selection of food trucks and other food vendors. Expect Shad Chowder cookoffs in addition to fried Oreos, tacos, and other fair food. Also, make sure to check out the Beer Garden and other food options in the Lambertville Station parking lot.
Arts & Crafts
Local artists flock the streets of Lambertville selling all kinds of amazing goods. The event includes an auction of hundreds of donated works for talented local artists held in the First Presbyterian Church on N. Union Avenue. The funds benefit scholarships for local students pursuing an education in the arts.
The James Hamilton Shad Festival Scholarship Fund
The winners of the James Hamilton Scholarships will be announced. The fund has raised over half a million dollars since 1981 for local students studying artistic studies in college. Last year two students were each awarded ten thousand for their studies.
Make sure to mark your calendars and come out to a great festival in one of New Jersey’s most scenic downtowns.
