Winter Free Rabies Clinics will be held throughout Hunterdon County through January.
Rabies is a debilitating virus that causes aggressive behavior and unusual behavior in warm-blooded mammals. While rabies in humans is rare, our pets are still susceptible. The virus can be transmitted via saliva, so pets most commonly at risk are those that come into contact with wild animals. Raccoons, skunks, foxes, groundhogs, and bats are most likely to be impacted by the virus. Suburban areas where infected wildlife and our pets may make an accidental encounter are the most likely to be impacted.
The best way to protect our pets is to keep them up to date with vaccinations. There are five upcoming free Rabies clinics. The clinics, provided by the Municipalities and are open to all New Jersey Residents. If you are not a resident of New Jersey call the clinic and inquire if they are allowing non-residents to participate.
