If you haven’t made the trip out to Peddler’s Village in Lahaska, Pennsylvania, you’re in for a pleasant surprise.
You may know this area for its beauty during winter and their famous gingerbread house competition. Good news, we don’t have to wait for the cold to have a reason to visit.
Peddler’s Village is loaded with events to keep you busy during the Fall season. Even if you miss out on the festivals, Peddler’s is a perfect place to walk around with family, friends or a date. Located about 15 minutes from river town Stockton, NJ, this area is worth a visit, or two, especially if you plan for these events.
Scarecrow Competition & Display
You can’t get much more festive than a scarecrow competition. From September 10 through October 28, giant scarecrows will be on display throughout Peddler’s Village. And when I say giant, I mean it. You won’t see scarecrows like this anywhere else.
After taking a stroll through the Village, make sure you grab a ballet. Vote on one of six different categories and crown your favorite scarecrow champions. These get creative! Categories include Quite the Character, Traditional, Thrills with Chills, Group, Kids Only and Philly Pride. Take your picks!
OctoberFEAST
The grand Fall festival of Oktoberfest but with a twist; even more food than beer. Come out to the 4th annual OctoberFEAST, Sat & Sun, Oct 13 & 14, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Find your self-surrounded by bratwurst, beer and live music. Family-friendly activities will also be happening all day! OctoberFEAST has something for everyone.
It’s called OctoberFEAST for a reason. The Cock N’ Bull Food Tent will be dishing out delicious traditional Bavarian meals. This includes weisswurst, frankfurters, the classics like a soft pretzel and tons more. If your not in the mood for a hot dog, there will be tons of other vendors such as The Flying Pie Guy. I’ll let you guess what they sell.
Next up, you’re going to need a drink (if your 21+). Try out some German beers provided by the Free Will Brewing Co and Earl’s New American; a Franziskaner Hefe Weiss or the Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest. Yeah, good luck pronouncing that.
After a long day of OctoberFEASTing, you deserve a dessert. Make sure you grab a fresh cinnamon donut via the DonutNV Food Truck which will be stationed in the Village all dat. Honestly, what’s better than a warm doughnut on a chilly fall afternoon?
Apple festival
Peddlers Village’s 45th annual Apple festival is a perfect fall time activity. With the season in full effect, this area will be perfect to walk around and go shopping. The quirky shops here are fantastic to explore. The Apple Festival will be featuring over 50 artisans including, Pink Accents Jewelry, Delaware River Treasures and much more.
After you check out all the local art, your going to work up an appetite. For the first time, Peddler’s Village will be featuring a food truck court! Located on Street Road behind the Red Barn (you’ll know when you see it), food trucks will be serving up some goods. There will be a variety of vendors including Meat Wagon BBQ, Empanada Lady, Cheezen, Have A Ball and more. See you there!
