Easter is a religious holiday, of course. But the Easter egg hunt is just plain fun: tiny kids running in every direction, oblivious to the colorful plastic eggs toppling out of their baskets as they go. After two years without them, those of us with young children are itching to relive the memory. As of this writing, it looks like that shouldn’t be a problem. Here’s a rundown of all the Easter egg hunts that are planned throughout the Delaware River Towns.
APRIL 9
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Doylestown
At the Easter Egg-stravaganza, kids will be invited to decorate their own bags for the hunt, which will be held inside the church. Following the hunt, more crafts are planned, along with some Easter stories. Admission is free, although participants are asked to bring a donation for the Home At Last Dog Rescue. Guests are also asked to register in advance. You can do that here.
APRIL 9-10 and 14-16
Shady Brook Farm, Yardley
In true Shady Brook fashion, the egg hunt is merely one part of a much (much) larger Easter festival that includes photos with the Easter bunny, a pedal go-cart track, an obstacle course, a cow train, a giant jumping pillow, and a slew of other fun stuff that’ll keep your kid entertained for hours. Hunters (and their parents) are transported via a tractor-pulled wagon to a nearby field that’s filled with eggs. The wagon will run continuously between 10 AM and 3:30 PM. Admission is $12 per hunter and $8 per adult. You can buy your tickets here.
APRIL 9-10 and 15-16
Schaefer Farms, Flemington
Hunters (and their parents) are transported via hayride to a nearby field that’s loaded with candy-filled plastic eggs. The hunters are encouraged to find 10 eggs. If they discover a gold egg, they’ll win a special prize. Hayrides will be running continuously between 11 AM and 3 PM. Admission is $15 per hunter and $3 per adult. Back at the main area, the Easter bunny will be available for photos. And the Schaefer Farm to Fork food truck will be serving through 3 PM.
APRIL 10
Point Pleasant Community Baptist Church, Point Pleasant
Games and crafts for children will be available after the egg hunt. A time has yet to be announced for this year’s hunt, so refer to the church’s website or its Facebook page. Admission is free.
APRIL 16
St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flemington
Children’s activities and music are planned for before and after the egg hunt. Prior to COVID, church members filled more than 6,000 plastic eggs with candy and hid them around the church’s grounds. A time has yet to be announced for this year’s hunt, so refer to the church’s website or its Facebook page. Admission is free.
