Join us for a workshop with artist and ArtYard’s Artistic Director, Elsa Mora, in celebrating the brain through punch needle embroidery.
Join renowned artist & ArtYard’s own Artistic Director and Curator, Elsa Mora , in a 3-hour workshop celebrating the brain through the art of punch needle embroidery. Using the pencil and ink drawings of the brain by the father of neuroscience, Santiago Ramón y Cajal, as a launching pad, Elsa will invite participants to design an imaginative neuron that they will stitch onto fabric. In addition to harnessing new skills in a beautiful textile art practice, participants will have the opportunity to have their final work displayed in ArtYard’s Project Gallery. This workshop is in conjunction with the exhibition in the gallery, Paper Weight: Works in Paper by Elsa Mora , as well as the exhibition in the project gallery, Rugland: Wall Tapestries from the Center for Creative Work.
Textile enthusiasts of all levels welcome, ages 18 and up. This workshop will take place at ArtYard Saturday, March 21, 2020, from 2-5 pm. This workshop has limited space so sign up early.
The cost of this workshop is $150, which includes the cost of materials: an embroidery frame, a punch needle pen, thread, and fabric.
