2020 marks the twenty-third year for the Lambertville * New Hope Winter Festival. The Festival is hosted by the Twin Rivertown Projects, Inc., a 501c3 organization consisting of a group of dedicated board of directors and many volunteers who give generously of their time – from late summer up to and including the Winter Festival activities.
Our many family and adult-oriented winter activities raise funds that we later give back to the community.
Each year Twin Rivertown Projects selects community organizations as recipients of our proceeds. These organizations include:
New Hope, Lambertville, and Solebury Parks and Recreation Departments
Local food banks including Fisherman’s Mark Social Service organization
Schools
Fire, Police and Rescue organizations
History
In 1995, local business owner Louise Decker got the idea to hold a Winter Carnival – like the ones held in the ski areas of New England – events that bring the whole community together! With the help of interested colleagues and friends, Louise pulled it all together and made the first Lambertville Winter Carnival a reality.
That first year there were, among other activities: ice carvings, cross country ski lessons, and a torchlight parade down Belle Mountain. (Belle Mountain was a small ski slope at the southern end of Lamberbertville. It closed in 1998.) By the second year, more people were interested in participating and the event became what is now termed the Lambertville New Hope Winter Festival.
The Festival is now spread out over nine days with a host of family-friendly activities, brings thousands of visitors to the area, and keeps hundreds of volunteers quite busy!
Mission
We have three goals:
to provide a healthy, invigorating cold-weather experience in
our river town communities
to demonstrate that our multi-faceted communities are alive
and well in the winter months with exciting and diverse activities
raise funds and awareness for local non-profit organizations
Supporting Winter Festival can also be accomplished by volunteering on any of the Winter Festival Committees or by providing financial support and donations of services and goods.
We wish to thank all of our sponsors and volunteers from both Lambertville and New Hope who come together to make this event possible. We also wish to thank, for their generosity, all those who donate goods and services.
