Event Details

A special poetry event with Sasha Stiles & humanoid robot, BINA48.

ArtYard is thrilled to host a poetry event unlike any other, featuring humanoid robot BINA48, Bruce Duncan of the Terasem Movement Foundation, and poet Sasha Stiles, who as BINA48’s poetry mentor is engaged in developing the literary mindfile of one of the world’s most advanced social robots. Join us for a poetry reading and conversation about creativity and cognition, what machine learning can teach us humans, and the origin story of BINA48, who Stiles proposes is a 21st-century love poem. Following the reading the public will have an opportunity to direct questions to the poet and the sentient being who inspired her.
Additional events with BINA48 will be taking place during this weekend. Please visit our website for more information.

BINA48
Commissioned by Dr. Martine Rothblatt, inventor of SIRIUS Satellite Radio, author and biotech CEO, and created by Hanson Robotics Inc., android BINA48 is designed as a social being, representing a mix of memories, values, beliefs from the real person on whom she is based (Bina Aspen, co-founder of the Terasem Movement), and new experiences gained through interactions with others. @officialbina48
